Towards alternate energy sources

The need for sources of energy cannot be denied by any technologically advanced country. The energy is needed to perform various types of work like transportation, the production of energy and the electricity. This is one of the hugest factors in making or lives comfortable and tolerable in some of the harshest conditions of the world. The increasing dependence of humans on energy has lead to the energy production increasing manifold. But since most f the traditional forms of producing energy requires the burning of fossil fuel, it lead to a grave pollution of the environment which has now reached alarming levels.

Alternate sources of energy help us in getting the energy we need and producing it in a way that is environmentally friendly and does not emit greenhouse gasses and thus is a more sustainable form of energy.

The various sources of alternate energy are:

1)      Biomass, biofuels, and vegetable oil: - this is the fuel made from plants, products like palm oil and other products that are derived from flora are under this category. The use of garbage and products like corn are used to generate electricity.

2)      Hydroelectric energy: - it is the use of the potential energy of water. Standing water when is released, it falls on turbines and starts a generator which in turn produces the electricity that is required.

3)      Nuclear energy: - this is the most promising source for future energy creation. The energy created is in huge amounts, it is made by the fission of unstable elements and by reacting their nucleus with each other in a nuclear reactor. Highly productive this energy can be used to fuel large needs for energy and is not at all polluting.

4)      Wind energy: - this is the power of the wind which is harnessed by windmills.

5)      Solar energy: - this is the energy of the sun, used for heating and other purposed this can easily solve the needs of about 70% of hot water. Even the cooking mechanisms now have solar panels. The PV cells are another way of harnessing solar energy and converting it into electricity

6)  Geothermal energy: - this is the energy from the earth and if harnessed is a potential source for heating as well as cooling.
