Global Warming and Wildlife

We just celebrated earth day, a time to consider our great mother earth and all her natural wonders including wildlife and it's resources and respect and appreciate what we have. Global warming has become the topic of the day and the National Wildlife Federation" is doing it's share to aid in the prevention of global warming and save wildlife and partners with colleges for "Chill Out", a non-profit contest held on college campuses each year on earth day. The goal is to find solutions to global warming while educating students and the public about the effects of global warming on wildlife. Global warming can cause the perfect order of an ecological system to become disorganized and create an inherent chain reaction that ultimately leads to the extinction of an entire species, perhaps more than one and how will that effect life for us humans? According to scientists, the warming of the earth over a period of time will drastically change the climate and ecological systems that will promote disease and have a major effect on food crops, causing serious droughts. Have you seen an Inconvenient Truth? It does make a person think about what we have been doing to this planet all these years and how much more pollution we can spew into the air, water and earth before it all comes crashing down.

Then there are those that believe it is just the earth's natural cycle and all of this global warming talk is just that, talk. I believe it is a little of both. Unfortunately, emissions pesticides and other chemicals have an impact, thus helping speed up the natural cycle. It is very hard for me to believe that pollution in our environment is not a main culprit, not just in promoting global warming, but in the growing number of dying plant and marine life. Whether global warming is real or not, isn't it time we all started taking a serious look at our environment pollution and help find ways to eliminate or at the very least reduce it? There are many sources available to give you tips and information. The National Wildlife Federation is one of them. You also can get information here: http://www.arb.ca.gov/html/brochure/pm10.htm. You should be able to find a link like this for whatever state you live in by searching online or look in your local phone book to find contact information. Find out what programs are being initiating to help control environment pollution as well as energy conservation and ask how you can help.

Btw- The problem with a large number of honey bees dying off is not due to global warming, but in fact caused by the spread of an Asian tick like mite that feeds on the bees.
